Dumas M. Siméus, ’72

Dumas M. Siméus earned his MBA in 1972. After graduation, Simeus held management positions with Hartz Pet Foods, Atari, Bendix, and TLC Beatrice Foods. In 1996, he purchased Portion-Trol Foods, later renaming it Siméus Foods International (SFI) and serving as chairman and CEO.

By 2003, SFI provided frozen foods to the food service industry with close to $200 million in sales and over 700 employees. It also was the largest black-owned food processing company in the nation, according to Black Enterprise Magazine.

Siméus also set his sights on improving the quality of life in his homeland of Haiti. In 1999, he formed the Siméus Foundation, a nonprofit organization that founded a health care clinic and provided food, clothing, clean water, and educational opportunities to the people of the Artibonite Valley in Haiti. In addition to his work with his foundation, Siméus has served as special advisor to the president of Haiti and assisted the U.S. State Department on Haitian Affairs. He has received many awards for his humanitarian spirit, including the Haitian-American Achievement Award by the National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
