Yes. Our first cohort of students will begin taking classes in fall 2024.

The Master in Finance degree is designated STEM-eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT) purposes. International graduates on F-1 student visas who earn a Chicago Booth masters degree may be eligible to apply for an additional 24 months of training through work experience.

Yes. You’ll complete your internship during the summer after your first three quarters of courses.

There are key differences between our Master in Finance Program and our MBA Programs as an option for those who want to pursue a career in finance.

Our MiF Program is for recent college graduates in quantitative fields of study with limited work experience—curious and highly analytical thinkers who are passionate about finance and searching for a master’s degree that is challenging and transformative.

Our MBA Programs provide students with a rigorous business education rooted in the fundamentals of business (accounting, economics, psychology, sociology, and statistics), preparing them for a wide range of careers both inside and outside of finance.

Our Master in Management Program, which is also for recent college graduates, is for liberal arts and STEM majors who are looking for the broad business skills necessary to begin a career in business with confidence. With our Finance specialization in the MiM Program, students take a total of four finance courses. 

Key differences exist between our Master in Finance Program and the Finance specialization in our Master in Management Program. With our Master in Finance Program, accomplished recent college graduates in quantitative fields of study can build on their analytical aptitude and dive deep studying cutting-edge finance topics, taking a total of 13 courses.

We offer three specializations: Asset Management, Investment Banking, or Fintech. We recommend that you choose a specialization, but we do not require it.

The program will be housed at Gleacher Center, but we expect students will take classes at both the Harper Center and Gleacher Center.

Yes. MiF graduates will be able to apply to the accelerated MBA Program and pursue the degree in either a Full-Time or Part-Time format.

We estimate tuition to be between $113,000 to $115,000. Please reference the to get an idea of what the Master in Finance will cost excluding tuition and Booth-related fees.

While MiF students at Booth can’t join MBA student groups, they can attend many MBA student events, where they will be able to network and learn from their fellow Booth graduate students. In addition, MiF students also have access to UChicago graduate student groups.

Yes, you鈥檒l have the opportunity to take many of your electives with Booth鈥檚 MBA students.

The length of the program is 15 months.
