Biography

Dr. Christine Carpenter is a Clinical Associate Professor of Leadership at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a licensed clinical psychologist with over two decades of experience in private practice. Her work focuses on the conscious and unconscious dynamics that shape interpersonal behavior, with particular expertise in group process and relational development.

Dr. Carpenter has led long-standing interpersonal process groups for individuals and couples and has facilitated numerous training groups through the Great Lakes Group Psychotherapy Society, where she currently serves as president. Her enduring belief in the power of group work to catalyze personal and professional growth informs both her clinical and academic practice.

In 2013, Dr. Carpenter founded Evolve Dating, a coaching practice supporting high-achieving individuals who seek more meaningful and connected romantic partnerships. Her work in this space bridges psychological insight with practical relational strategy.

Since co-facilitating the inaugural quarters of the Interpersonal Dynamics program at Chicago Booth in 2019, Dr. Carpenter has served in progressively advancing faculty roles—from Adjunct Assistant Professor (2020), to Clinical Associate Professor (2023), and now Clinical Professor (2025). She teaches two sections per quarter and is known for cultivating a challenging and supportive learning environment that fosters deep self-reflection and relational fluency.

Dr. Carpenter is also co-founder of DeepNorth, a leadership coaching practice that brings psychologically grounded, experiential development work to executives and senior teams. At the core of her work—whether in therapy, teaching, or coaching—is a deep commitment to helping individuals lead from within, with presence, clarity, and purpose.
