Biography

Paul Mang is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Strategy at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. His research and teaching focuses on innovation management, technology strategy, and entrepreneurship. Paul has presented at industry conferences globally and has been published in journals such as Strategic Organization, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Research Policy, and the McKinsey Quarterly. Paul was formerly an Assistant Professor of Management at The University of Texas at Austin, Graduate School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Strategic Management Society (SMS).

Paul’s teaching is influenced by his experience in consulting and in senior operating roles in global organizations. 

Paul was a Partner at McKinsey & Company and a leader in its North American Financial Services Practice. Over 14 years at McKinsey, in both the Chicago and London offices, he has advised numerous clients on issues across strategy, organization and operations. Paul was the Global CEO of Analytics at Aon, a professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions. While at Aon, he oversaw the Aon Center of Innovation and Analytics (ACIA) in Singapore and was the leader of the global reinsurance analytics group. Paul also served as the Chief Innovation Officer at Guidewire, the largest enterprise software platform provider to the insurance sector. He is currently a Partner and co-founder at Trimstone Partners, a London-based strategy consulting firm focused on large organization transformations. 

Paul is an advisor and investor in technology and analytics startups. He on the Advisory Board at Brewer Lane Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital fund active in the financial services sector. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Supercede, a series A London-based insurtech, and has served as a mentor at startup incubators such as 1871 (Chicago), Plug-and-Play (Silicon Valley), and Techstars (Americas East).  

Paul has a doctorate in strategic management from the Harvard Business School, and master and bachelor degrees from Stanford University.
