Managerial Psychology is the only required course that meets in Winter Quarter. Since students will be in London, they will meet this graduation requirement in Spring Quarter.
Three courses will be offered:
- The Wealth of Nations, taught by Chang-Tai Hsieh
- Global Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital and Private Equity, taught by Emanuele Colonnelli
- A new experiential course designed to apply business knowledge to the real world.
Full course descriptions will be available by July 1.
The preliminary schedule is for courses to meet in three-week blocks to immerse you in the content of each course. Formal class time will be supplemented by group study time and review sessions, but it will allow time for company visits and exploring the city as well as independent student travel on the weekends. However, some variations to this preliminary schedule may occur as we finalize the experiential course to maximize students’ learning objectives.
We are finalizing details for the experiential course but expect students to work with predominantly London or UK-based companies.
Yes, all students will take the same courses in one section, meaning you will develop a strong learning community among the students studying with you.
Students who study in London will earn a specialization in Global Innovation and Impact. When students return to Chicago they will take two additional elective courses to broaden their learning.
We do not have an exchange agreement with local schools for the Master in Management Program, so this is not possible.
The Sokolov EMBA Program is a cohorted program where students take specific courses in lockstep during “session weeks” on the London campus. These courses will meet in a time schedule that overlaps and conflicts with the MiM classes. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take classes with the EMBA students. However, there will be networking opportunities between the MiM and EMBA students during your time in London.
The staff in London will support any accommodations in cooperation with the program staff in Chicago.
During each course, faculty and TAs will be available on the London campus to assist students to meet the learning goals of the courses.
Many of the courses Master in Management students are interested in—such as Marketing Management, Competitive Strategy, and Strategies and Processes of Negotiation—are offered each quarter in either the MiM Program or MBA Program. Other courses may be offered in Winter Quarter but not Spring. The full 2025–26 schedule will be posted by July 1, and your academic advisor will be available to help you design an academic plan that meets your individual learning goals.
The course designed for Master in Management students, Managerial Finance, is only offered in the Winter Quarter, and therefore won’t be available to students who participate in the study abroad program. As a consequence, some finance courses that require managerial finance as a prerequisite, such as Cases in Financial Management, won’t be accessible to students who participate in the study abroad program. However, students in the Master in Management Program who are interested in finance courses can still take the investment course with MBA students in Spring Quarter.
The current study abroad option is open to MiM students. If you are a student in the Asness and Liew Master in Finance Program and interested in study abroad please contact us to discuss options. Full-Time MBA students have a number of options for study abroad and can review options here.
Students can arrange independent travel before or after the Winter Quarter or during the program, typically over long weekends. Note that it is the student’s responsibility to check visa and other requirements for all personal travel.
